History
Fort Lauderdale Christian School has been providing the
Christian families of Broward County with a quality
education since 1954. The Christian School Association which
started the school was incorporated in 1953. The first day
of school found 13 students, Grades K-2, and one teacher
meeting in a church building on a September morning in 1955.
Although there have been changes in location, student body,
teachers, and name of the school, the basic organization and
principles have remained the same.
Fort Lauderdale Christian School is unique in its
organization in that it is a parent-owned, parent-controlled
operation. Instead of founding a parochial school owned by a
specific church denomination, the Association began a
distinctive inter-denominational effort supported by
Christian parents. These parents were members of churches
that upheld the creeds which grew out of the Reformation.
They shared the conviction that the training received in
school must be in harmony with what is taught in their homes
and churches, so that all three institutions would be
unified in preparing their children to lead productive lives
to glorify God in contemporary society.
Today the Fort Lauderdale Christian School staff includes
more than 30 professional teachers plus administrative and
support staff. We have over 100 churches represented by our
student body and staff. The enrollment has grown to more
than 300 students and classes now includes Pre-K3 through
12. We moved to our present site in 1972 with the original
building now housing the elementary and high school wings. A
spacious gym with surrounding classrooms was completed in
1979.

Administration
The administrators are hired by the Board of Directors to
efficiently and effectively operate and manage the school
according to the Constitution and Bylaws of the School
Society, established board policies, and laws of the State
of Florida. They are responsible for seeing that a
Christ-centered curriculum is established and implemented in
the school.
All teachers have or are working toward certification from
the State of Florida and teaching in their areas of
specialization. They all have a commitment to Christ and a
love for children. They are all members of a Christian
church. All of them present the curriculum and approach
their teaching from a Christian perspective.
Fort Lauderdale Christian School is accredited by Christian
Schools of Florida and by the Association of Independent
Schools of Florida. Student achievement is measured and
compared to other students in Christian and public schools
throughout the nation through the use of the Iowa
Achievement Tests. Our students are scoring an average about
one year above their grade level when compared to other
students nationally.
