The
Foundation
God is the Creator and Sustainer of all things, and the
Source of all truth. He has revealed Himself to man through
creation in a general way and through the Bible in a special
way. He has revealed Himself most specifically in our
Redeemer, Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
The Bible, God's special revelation, is infallible and
inerrant. It provides the criterion for truth. The facts of
natural revelation must be seen in the light of spiritual
revelation.
Human life in its entirety is religion. The Christian life
is the total life of a human being created in the image of
God; it is a life that responds to the gift of salvation
through faith and service to God. It is the life of the
redeemed serving God in a whole range of cultural tasks.
The Christian
School
The basic premise of Fort Lauderdale Christian School is
that the ultimate responsibility of a child's education lies
with the parent. In our complex society, God has provided
FLCS to assist parents in fulfilling their God-given mandate
to teach their children in the fear and nurture of the Lord.
It is proper that children in the most formative period of
their lives should be educated through objectives formulated
by a God-centered philosophy, educational objectives which
include not only the cognitive and psycho-motive domains,
but also the affective domains, realizing it is impossible
to instill values apart from Christ.
The task of education is clearly given in Scripture to the
parents, not the State, Institution or Church.
"And these words which I am commanding you today
shall be on your heart; and you shall teach them diligently
to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your
house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and
when you rise up." Deuteronomy 6:6-7
"...bring (up your children) in the discipline
and instruction of the Lord." Ephesians 6:6b
FLCS seeks the cooperation and support of home and church in
order that the child see a well-rounded, yet unified picture
of God and His world.
The community to which FLCS is directed is composed of
evangelical Christians and their children. FLCS seeks a
student population where at least one of the parents is a
professing, dedicated believer who is a member of a local
Bible-believing church. FLCS does not provide Christian
nurture in place of the home, but supplements the Godly
instruction of the parents and the church.
FLCS provides a program of instruction for the parents so
that they will become acquainted with the philosophy and
goals of the school. We always welcome your questions and
comments.
The School Board and Administration provide the necessary
facilities, staff, equipment and materials to carry out the
education of your children. These provisions are made so
that children of Christian parents may be fully equipped to
meet the demands of the Christian life in our complex,
pluralistic society.
Christian
Education
Christian education consists of viewing the
natural revelation of God and all of life through the
perspective of His special revelation. No area of living and
thinking should be divorced from God and Christ for your
child.
Man has been given the cultural mandate to subdue and have
dominion over the world, and therefore, FLCS seeks to build
in your child a Christian world and life view. We guide
youth in discovering a Christian perspective on all areas of
life and prepare them to live in the real world.
Therefore, it is the task of each teacher at FLCS to analyze
and interpret his/her subject area through God's revelation,
the Bible.
FLCS seeks to expose the students to the teachings
and mind of the world in order to understand and cope with a
society that is usually hostile to the things of Christ, and
to be better quipped to witness to it.
"We are destroying speculations and every lofty
thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are
taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ..."
I Corinthians 10:5
FLCS seeks to develop the whole person for service in God's
Kingdom. Your child will be led to develop a life of
discipleship, making full use of the abilities God has given
him. FLCS recognizes the uniqueness of each student as one
created in God's image with varying gifts and talents, yet
each one having a particular place and calling in God's
Kingdom with specific talents to offer the whole.
It is the purpose of FLCS to educate children for lives of
obedience to their calling in this world as image-bearers of
God. This calling is to know God's Word and His creation, to
consecrate their whole life to God, to love their fellow
man, and to be good stewards in their cultural task.
