SPORTS INFORMATION

The Athletic Department is in the process of reorganizing the FLCS Boosters! We need your help in a couple of ways: 1) If your child plays a sport, you should take a look at the athletic web-site and pick out a 1st and 2nd choice of dates where you could work the concession stand. E-mail the dates to Coach Huisman at huismang@flcs.org 2) If you would like to take a larger role in the operation of the booster club, let Coach know at the same address.

Our Prayer Team meets every Thursday morning 8:00 - 9:00 a.m. at FLCS for intercessory prayer for the school and school families. Last Thursday we had two new prayer warriors come and join in with us. We welcome everyone to come and join us in prayer for our school, families, and your needs. God is a great God, and He hears us when we pray.

If you have any special requests, please let us know. It is a privilege for us to go before the throne of God on your behalf. Your request can remain confidential within our small group or shared in the body of the prayer team e-mail that goes out to the whole school.

Please know that you are more than welcome to join us. Where two or more are gathered in His name He is in the misdt of them. Call our school office at 954-972-3444. We stand on His promises. We know that He hears because we belong to Him.

THE CELL PHONE DRIVE -UP AND RUNNING!

Fort Lauderdale Christian School is having a cell phone drive to raise funds for the school and we are asking for your help. Unlike other fund raising projects, there are no products to buy and distribute. All we are asking is that you donate old cell phones that you have at home. Also, if you know of any businesses that provide cell phones to employees, please ask if there are unwanted cell phones they would like to donate. We don't even need the chargers or accessories. There is no cost to our school to participate in this program, so 100% of the proceeds will benefit Fort Lauderdale Christian School. We have received many phones from our school family and are preparing to send in our first batch. So, keep up the good work and remember to tell your friends, family, and neighbors about our cell phone drive. All we need is the cell phone and battery. Donation drop off box is located in front office.

CLASS RINGS

Juniors and Seniors will have the opportunity to order their class rings from Balfour on Thursday, September 30th, during 1st period. The Balfour representative will return on Thursday, October 7, to collect ring orders

during 4th period in the Library. Graduation cap and gown measurements

will be taken at that time as well for the Seniors. Any questions, please

contact Mrs. Auguste (auguste@flcs.org) or Mrs. Beaudreau (beaudreau@flcs.org).

We are already starting the month of September of our new 2010-2011 school year. It's our desire that all our students are doing well with their classes. After a meeting with the Community Blood Center at school, we are going to have our first blood drive on Wednesday, September 8th starting at 8:30 am - 3:30pm. We are expecting your collaboration with this event and wait for your blood donations to save lives.

BOXTOPS FOR EDUCATION & CAMPBELL'S LABELS FOR EDUCATION

Yes, again this year we will be collecting Box Tops and Campbell Soup labels from each class. Please clip and turn the Campbell Soup labels and Box Tops into your child's classroom teacher. Middle School and High School students can drop their labels to the front office.

Grades 6-8: You have the chance to earn a dress-down day on October 16th. To submit your Box Tops, place them in a baggie or envelope with your grade number and drop them off in the bin outside Mrs. Travers' office.

Parents: For more information on Box Tops, please visit www.btfe.com. There are plenty of bonus earning opportunities for the school. Sign up for The Big Clip sweepstakes and our school could win up to 500,000 Box Tops ($50,000)!

STARTING THE DAY IN THE LORD WITH ELEMENTARY

Beginning at 8:05 a.m. every morning, PreK-5th grades participate in school-wide devotions over the PA system. To ensure that this time with the Lord receives the consideration it deserves we are asking that all students arrive at school promptly. We appreciate you support in this area.

STUDENT PICK-UP PROCEDURE FOR ELEMENTARY

To speed up the flow of traffic and ensure the safe dismissal of the students, please familiarize yourself with these procedures. If you have a student in Pre-K thru 5th grade, you have been given 2 color name place cards. These are to be displayed in the windshield of your car: either on the dash or on the visor of the passenger's side of your vehicle. Be aware that the other lane closest to the building is a pick-up lane and the other lane is for thru traffic only. There is NO parking in the pick-up area between 7:00 -8:30 a.m. and 2:00 - 3:30 p.m.

Remember, if someone different is picking up your child, his or her teacher needs to have a note from you with the name of that person picking up your child. The person who comes to pick up your child MUST present the teacher with a photo identification before your child will be released.

PLEASE HELP US BY DOING YOUR PART:

  1. Pull as far forward in the pick-up lane as possible. Please do not stop by the bench where your child is sitting.
  2. The teachers will help the children into the cars. Encourage your child to wait for teacher assistance. Please stay in your car during the pick-up procedure.
  3. If your child is not yet at the pick-up area, pull around and get back in the pick-up lane.
  4. Never ask your child to get in the vehicle when you are in the thru-traffic only lane.
  5. Always use the crosswalk when walking up to pick up your child.
  6. Please model patience and courtesy to the children at this time!

NEWS FROM OUR PHYSICAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

Students in Kindergarten through high school are required to use the school's P. E. uniforms. Students in grades K-5 will wear their P. E. uniforms to school on the days they have P. E. class. They are required to wear the school's P. E. short and shirt with white socks and appropriate athletic shoes. Their shirts will need to remain tucked in their shorts throughout the entire school day. Be aware that points will be deducted from their grade if they are not outfitted properly for P. E. class. The P. E. uniforms are sold at Sunshine Uniform. Students who do not wear their P. E. uniform to school must wear the regular school uniform to P. E. class.
